The victim was homeless.
Maryland State Fire Marshal's and Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal fire involving a homeless woman in Carroll County.
Fire-fighters responded to a one-alarm fire at the rear of the Westminster Rescue Mission at 30 West Main Street this morning around 1:45 a.m.
Once on scene, they found the remains of a body and clothes burning on the rear dock of the building. The fire was quickly put out and the victim was determined to be deceased.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office to determine the identity and cause of death.
