The school opens in the fall of 2013.
Jacqueline Piro has been selected as the first principal of the Frederick Classical Charter School, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2013. Her appointment takes affect July 1st.
Piro was a principal at a classically-based elementary and middle school in Westminster, Virginia. In 2006, she came to Governor Thomas Johnson High to teach social studies. Piro has led professional development, coordinated High School Assessment testing and served on the high school leadership instructional team. She has also worked with students in the Twilight Program at Heather Ridge School.
Piro earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, and obtained a Master of Arts in community counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2000. She completed the Educational Leadership Master's Certificate Program at Hood College in 2009.
