Traffic Could Be Delayed Due To Lord Nickens' Funeral Procession

Motorists who may be inconvenienced are urged to find alternate routes.

 

 

The funeral procession on Saturday for local civil rights activist Lord Nickens could cause some traffic delays around Frederick, according to the City Police.

The funeral itself is scheduled for 12-noon at the International Community Church at 123 Byte Drive.

The procession will begin at 2:30 in the afternoon from the church on to Hayward Road. It will travel along Hayward Road to Opposumtown Pike. From there, it will head toward Motter Avenue and Lord Nickens Street. It will then go the wrong way on Lord Nickens Street to North Market Street. From there, it will head to West 13th Street, and then to Motter Avenue. It will travel on the northbound ramp to Route 15, and from there, it will go to Resthaven Memorial Gardens, where Nickens will be laid to rest.

Officials remind motorists who may be inconvenienced by this procession to find alternate routes to get around Frederick on Saturday.

Throughout the procession, Frederick Police, the County Sheriff's Office, the Maryland State Police and the State Highway Administration will be directing traffic.
