The region to be hit with freezing rain and sleet.
The National Weather Service in Sterling, Va. says a Winter Weather Advisory will remain in affect until 9:00 AM Wednesday.
The agency is calling for freezing rain and sleet, with ice accumulations of a trace to one-ince at elevations above 1500 feet. There will also be light sleet accumulations.
The Weather Service says the best chances of accumulatins will be at the higher elevations Tuesday evening, and continuing through the overnight hours and early Wednesday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Motorists are urged to be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility.
The areas covered by the Winter Weather Advisory include Frederick, Washington, Carroll, Montgomery and Howard Counties in Md.; Loudon County, Va.; and Jefferson and Berkeley Counties in WV.
