New gun control regulations has caused gun sales in Maryland to rise.
New gun control regulations proposed by Gov. Martin O'Malley and President Barack Obama has caused gun sales in Maryland to rise.
Bob Wolfez, who owns Gunrunners in Frederick, said gun-purchases have tripled in his store. He believes there is one reason causing the spike in sales.
"Fear of the Federal Government or Maryland banning certain types of firearms."
Last week Obama proposed a set of gun control regulations, including a universal background check for all gun sales and a ban on military-style assault weapons.
On Friday, O’Malley proposed a similar ban on assault weapons in Maryland and limits on the size of magazines.
Wolfez said before anyone is allowed to purchase a gun, a background check is completed.
During November and December of 2012, the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System processed over 36,000 background checks for gun purchases in Maryland.
