It occurred on Rt. 340 near Rt. 67.

A Frederick man was killed in a two-vehicle crash late Friday afternoon in Washington County.

State Police in Hagerstown say David James Forward, 56, died when his VW Jetta was struck by a truck tractor along Route 340 (Jefferson Pike) near Route 67 (Rohrersville Road) in the Weaverton area.

Troopers say Forward's Jetta was traveling east on Route 340 when he lost control of the vehicle, which ran across the grassy median into the opposite lanes of traffic. The truck tractor operated by Gregory Steven Givens, 31, of Yemasse, South Carolina, struck the passenger side of the VW, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Givens was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation into this crash is continuing.

No charges have been filed.
