The salt and ice can get stuck in their pads of their paw causing discomfort and mobility issues.
As the weather begins to get colder and snow is projected in the forecast, it is important to keep our pets safe from salt on the roads and driveways.
Harold Domer, the Director of Animal Control for Frederick County said the salt and ice can get stuck in their paws of their paws.
"Predominately what we're talking about is salt on driveways and then ice and snow is that freezing thawing, freezing thawing, that will occur and to make sure that you are diligent and thorough to cleaning each and every pad on all four legs," Domer said.
He said to clean their paws with a dry, clean towel before the road salt or ice gets stuck and effects their mobility and comfort.
