The chopper hit a power pole before coming down.
There were no injuries following a helicopter crash in Carroll County Tuesday afternoon.
The Sheriff's Office says the chopper went down in a field in the 700 block of Oak Tree Road in the Westminster area, not far from Clearview Airport. Deputies say the helicopter struck a power pole before coming rest on the ground.
The pilot, identified as Amirkhanian Shahram, 58, of Silver Spring, was the only person on board, and he refused medical treatment.
The remains of the aircraft were moved from the field to a secure area for investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
BGE responded to the scene after the power pole struck, but no residents were reported without power.
The crash remains under investigation, and anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to call Master Deputy Brandon Holland at the Sheriff's Office at 410-386-2900.
Authorities describe the helicopter as "homemade."
