New Flood Warnings For Monocacy River

Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.

 

The National Weather service has issued a flood warning for the Monocacy River near Frederick until Friday evening.

At 8 PM Thursday,  the river was at 17.5  feet and rising. Flood stage is 15.0 feet. Moderate  flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.

 At 17.0 feet significant lowland flooding occurs. Backwater flooding is happening along the river. Numerous roads are closed.

Water is approaching the parking lot at Gambrill Mill on the Monocacy National Battlefield. Backwater flooding from Carroll Creek is likely approaching the underside of the bridge leading to the Frederick City wastewater treatment plant.
