Fire claims the lives of two sisters.
Fire claimed the lives of two young girls in Myersville late Thursday night.
Rescue personnel were called to the 3900 block of Highland Avenue at 11:20 p.m. for a report of a home on fire with entrapment.
Mike Dmuchowski, with Frederick County Fire and Rescue, said when units arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames.
"Crews worked aggressively to locate the two occupants who reported to still be in the home however there efforts were hampered by the volume of fire and the unstable structure. Four occupants of the home and one firefighter were transported to the hospital."
A man, 39, was flown to Med Star Washington Hospital Center, an 8 year old girl was transported to Children's National Medical Center. A 33 year old woman, and 7 month old infant were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Fire investigators from the Frederick County Fire Investigation Task Force responded to the scene and are working to determine the cause of the fire.
"My condolences go out to the family of the house fire, the family lost two of their young children,"
The home is a total loss.
The bodies of the girls, ages 3 and 6, were taken to the Medical Examiner's Office.
