Frederick Man Charged With Resisting Arrest

He struggled with officers following a traffic stop.

A Frederick man was charged with assault, resisting arrest, and drug and motor vehicle offenses after his arrest on Saturday afternoon. Ricky Darnell Bowie, 31, was taken into custody following a traffic stop at the intersection of West Patrick Street and Degrange Street.

Police say Officer Kevin Meyer saw Bowie driving a car in the 400 block of West South. He later saw him as a passenger in that vehicle with a woman behind the wheel. The officer say he saw the vehicle not stopping for a red light, and it was pulled over at West Patrick and Degrange Streets. A check on his driving status revealed Bowie was suspended and revoked. Police say they tried to place him under arrest, but he attempted to pull away, and kicked officers several times. He was eventually placed in handcuffs after a brief struggle. Authorities say a search incident to the arrest yielded a quantity of marijuana.

Bowie is charged with driving on a revoked license, driving on a suspended privilege, driving without a license, resisting arrest, 2nd-degree assault and possession of marijuana less then 10 grams.
