A 16-year-old Cascade, Md. girl was taken to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown following a three-vehicle crash Monday morning on Interstate 70 near Route 66.

State Police in Washington County say the teenager was driving a Toyota 4-Runner which was traveling westbound on I-70. The vehicle entered the center median after the operator lost control. The 4-Runner overturned, came into the eastbound lanes of I-70 and struck a Chrysler passenger car head on. The driver of the 4-runner was then thrown from her vehicle, and was then hit by a Hyundai Sonata, which was also traveling eastbound.

Two passengers in the Chrysler were also transported to Meritus Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

I-70 near Route 66 was closed for a time while State Police conducted an investigation.
