Frederick Community College has released a statement regarding the departure of President FJ Talley. The statement, posted on the school's website,  cites philosophical differences with the Board of Trustees for Talley's decision to step down effective January 3rd.

"Coming to Frederick Community College, it was apparent that it faced many challenges, yet it also has tremendous faculty and staff," Dr. Talley said in the statement. "It has become increasingly evident that the path for FCC's recovery and future that I held was different from that of the Board. Thus, the Board and I have decided that it would be in the best interests of the College for new leadership to take the helm at this time." The statement does not indicate what those differences are.

"We have had some notable successes, including the continuing education of a more entrepreneurial stance for the College, developing stronger relationships with the College's external partners and keeping the College's ambitious strategic planning activities on track, to name a few. Each of these has given the College ample reason to be confident of its future," Dr. Talley continues in the statement.

Dr. Talley was hired last year, and began work as President of FCC on July 1st. Since he left, Doug Browning, Vice President of Administration, has taken over as interim president until a permanent replacement can be found.

"We appreciate Dr. Talley's leadership during this challenging period," said FCC Board Chairman Dixie Miller, in the statement. "We wish him and his family nothing but the best.
