Because of police activity in the area.
Five Frederick County Public Schools were on partial lockdown this afternoon.
"Those schools are Ballenger Creek Elementary, Ballenger Creek Middle, Orchard Grove Elementary, Tuscarora Elementary and Tuscarora High," said Michael Doerrer, FCPS Communications Director. "We were told by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office that there was police activity in the area, but I can assure you that this was done as a precautionary measure, and our kids and staff our safe," continued Doerrer.
A short time later the lockdown was lifted, after authorities cordoned off Hastings Court. "Because Tuscarora High School students were not dismissmed on time it is causing some bus delays in the feeder pattern," he said. "Students from Ballenger Creek, Orchard Grove and Tuscarora High, who live in that area, will remain at school until the situation is resolved. However, if parents want to pick up their kids, they are welcomed to do so, but call their school first," said Doerrer.
