The Maryland State Highway Administration is keeping an eye out on the weather forecast. The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia says the Frederick area could get snow and sleet Friday afternoon. "We are hearing a variance of between light snow, to rain, to a little more of a wintry mix like we experienced last week," said Kellie Boulware, SHA spokeswoman. "We are monitoring the situation and our crews are making sure that all of our vehicles are fueled with needed supplies," continued Boulware. "The weather forecast could change within the next 24 hours, but we want to make sure that we are prepared for what ever."
The forecast is calling for snow and sleet likely, mainly after 3pm Friday. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible. Friday night freezing rain and sleet is likely, and becoming all freezing rain after 10pm. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch is possible. Saturday rain, is possible mixed with freezing rain, and becoming all rain after 8am. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch is possible.
