Frederick Police are investigating an accident involving a pedestrian who was struck in the area of Center and Madison Streets. Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning officers were dispatched to that area and saw a man lying in the roadway.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle travelling northbound on Center Street hit the unidentified man. The victim was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say the driver of the striking vehicle was not injured.
