He ran away from his car after it crashed.
A Middletown man is charged with numerous offenses, including attempting to elude police on foot, reckless driving and negligent driving. Ryan P. Kline, 47, was apprehended Sunday night in Middletown.
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says a deputy spotted Kline's vehicle along Schoolhouse Road after hearing a lookout broadcast for a possibly intoxicated driver. The Black Nissan Versa was observed speeding and failing to stop at stop signs. The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but it continued on to North Jefferson Street near West Main Street, where it crashed into a concrete walkway.
The driver fled on foot toward his home.
A perimeter was set up, and the Sheriff's Office Canine Unit and Maryland State Police helicopter were requested.
Kline was located in the 200 block of Washington Street. He was first taken to the hospital where he was treated, and then to Central Booking for processing.
