Two people were taken to area hospitals following a two-vehicle crash Monday morning.

Frederick Police say an SUV traveling east on West Patrick street struck a minivan turning westbound from Grove Hill Road to Route 40.

It was a t-bone accident, according to officers.

The driver of the minivan was extricated and medivaced to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. The front seat passenger in the minivan was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room. Police say their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities say the operator of the SUV was not hurt, but was issued a citation for failing to stop at a red light and contributing to an accident.

Police say the intersection was closed for a time to allow the Maryland State Police Helicopter to land in and fly out a patient.
