Police, fire and rescue units were dispatched on Tuesday afternoon to an accident involving a school bus at Route 75 (Green Vallen Road) between Old Annapolis Road and Glissans Mill Road.
Authorities say a car rear-ended a school bus, and went underneath the bus.
Four students on board were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Terry Ablan.
The driver of the striking vehicle was medivaced to Shock Trauma in Baltimore by the State Police Helicopter.
The State Highway Administration's CHART web site says both north and southbound lanes of Route 75 (Green Valley Road) between Old Annapolis Road and Glissans Mill Road were closed, but they have been reopened. .
Dr. Alban says the bus was carrying New Market Middle School students who were on their way home from classes. Their parents have been notified.
Despite a crash like this, Dr. Alban reminds residents that school buses are some of the safest vehicles on the road.
