Named one of America's best small towns that made a comeback.
Frederick Cty is making headlines. This time with CNN News. The international news agency has named Frederick as one of America's best small towns that made a comeback after experiencing a devastating disaster.
The report released on Monday talked about the massive flood in the mid-1970's, that wiped away nearly 100 acres of history and how after nearly 30 years, city officials, turned Carroll Creek Park into a commercial district and lined it with shops, and destination restaurants.
Rrichard griffin, the Director of Economic Development, said the leadership of the city, during that time, put in place, an ambitious plan that six administrations have stuck to. "And that included everything, from underground utilities, and putting in a $40 million flood control project," said Griffin.
Also making CNN's list of small-town comebacks were Coronado, California, Paducah, Kentucky, and New Iberia, Louisiana.
