The Weather Services says it's mostly for sleet & freezing rain.
The National Weather Service in Sterling, Va. has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 2:00 AM Tuesday for the region. It covers Frederick and Washington Counties in Maryland, Loudon County, Virginia, and Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson Counties in West Virginia.
The agency says freezing rain and sleet are expected across the area, but mostly for elevations above 1,000 feet. Accumulations of one-tenth of an inch of freezing rain, and up to one inch of sleet, could fall, mostly on the ridge tops.
Roads are expected to become slippery due to the ice accumulation, especially across rramps, bridges and other elevated surfaces, according to the National Weather Service. Motorists are urged to be cautious.
Several vehicle crashes have been reported across Frederick County Monday afternoon. Road crews are out treating roads.
