After a month of pre-season training in Florida, the Frederick Keys are ready to take the field for their first game of the season against rival Winston-Salem.
Finally returning home to Harry Grove Stadium after a month of pre-season practice in sunny Florida, the Frederick Keys are ready to take the field for the first time and show the fans what a hard working team looks like.
Torre Tyson, the hitting coach, said there are a lot of great players to keep an eye on this season.
"Well I know we've got quite a few high profile guys, you've got Nick Delmonico at third, and our catcher Ohlman hit three hundred last year, so you've got him back there. Then we've got quite a few guys who are looking to redeem themselves after last year and our whole outfield's got a ton of talent," said Tyson.
He said they plan to approach each day 'one day at a time' and develop the players as the season goes on.
Returning to the Keys roster this year after a knee injury last season is Nick Delmonico who will be playing at third base. He said his goal for the season is simple.
"Just continue to grind it out, obviously just come everyday focused and learning something everyday," said Delmonico.
The Keys season opener is this Friday, April 5th, against rival Winston-Salem. The game at Harry Grove Stadium will start at 7pm.
