Whitesell Pharmacy is teaming up with the Frederick Police Department to encourage citizens to drop off unused and expired medications. This is a safe and easy way for unused medications to be properly disposed of and to prevent health and environmental hazards created by improper drug disposal. All medications will be placed in secure containers and all personal information will be kept confidential.
It's taking place on Saturday, April 27, 2013, from 10:00am- 2:00pm at Harry Grove Stadium, 21 Stadium Drive (parking lot),
"As key businesses of the community, pharmacies are in a prime position to ensure the safe and proper handling of medications, from dispensing to disposal," said Anne Marie Merritt, pharmacy technician.
Acceptable items include: prescription medications, over the counter medications, medical samples, pet medications, medicated ointments and or lotions. Non acceptable items include: thermometers, IV bags, blood or infectious waste, business waste, syringes and oxygen tanks.
