The Frederick County Bureau of Investigation (FCBI) is now classifying the suspicious death investigation of Gloria C. Fitzpatrick, age 61 of Frederick, as a homicide.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick was found by a family member deceased in her apartment after she didn’t show up for work. The medical examiner has ruled the manner of death as a homicide. Significant trauma not visible to detectives at the scene was discovered through an autopsy, said Sgt. Jennifer Bailey, in a press release. She said the location and specifics regarding the trauma and cause of death will not be discussed, due to the ongoing investigation.
An early investigation of the scene revealed no signs of forced entry into the apartment or signs of a struggle. However, the released said, investigators learned through initial interviews that Ms. Fitzpatrick had very specific routines that didn’t match observations within the apartment. These inconsistencies, which will not be released at this time, led investigators to immediately believe the death to be suspicious which was ultimately confirmed by the autopsy results, Sgt. Bailey continued.
Investigators believe this a victim specific crime, and not a random act of violence.
As always, citizens are urged to stay alert and aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity immediately. Anyone with information about this crime should contact Det. Joseph McCallion at 301-600-1022.
