Police responded to 9523 Liberty Road to check on a possible suicidal man in his home.
Route 26 in Mount Pleasant was closed for several hours on Monday due to a barricade situation.
Maryland State Police say at 4:21 p.m., they responded to 9523 Liberty Road to check on a possible suicidal man in his home.
State Troopers, along with Deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, tried to make contact with the man. While trying to talk to the man, Troopers heard a gun shot come from inside the home and immediately set up a perimeter.
Police later went into the home and found the man dead from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
The incident continues to be investigated.
