The proposed FY2014 Operating Budget for Frederick County Government contains over $30 million in funding for those in need, including seniors, TransIt riders, job seekers, persons seeking health services, families and children, those with disabilities, and many others with special needs.
A total of $19,871,9578 is funded by Frederick County taxpayers, which represents four percent of the budget. State and federal funding of $16.7 million comprise the remaining $36 million.
President Blaine Young of the Frederick County Board of Commissioners commented, "This board has taken direct steps to address the considerable challenges with our budget since we came into office, although some may still have the perception that we aren't doing enough to help those in need. We wish to clarify that in addition to the things that are at the core of government services like water and sewer, public safety, and transportation, we are very conscious of the needs of our citizens."
