A Frederick man was arrested early Tuesday morning on drug offenses. Amit A. Singh, 20, was apprehended following a traffic stop. He is charged with, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a synthetic narcotic, manufacturing and distributing a synthetic narcotic and possession of paraphernalia. He was aslo cited for speeding.
The Sheriff's Office says a deputy initiated the traffic stop in the area of Route 40 and Route 15 shortly after midnight for speeding. As he was speaking with the driver, the deputy detected an odor of pot coming from the vehicle. A search netted 23 grams of suspected marijuana, 12 capsules of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or ecstasy) and drug paraphernalia.
The contraband was seized as evidence.
Singh was taken to Central Booking at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing.
