It will take place at FCC on Tues., June 25th
A public hearing will be held on a proposed bid received by the Frederick Commissioners on the sale of Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center and the Montevue Assisted Living Facility.
During a worksession Thursday, County Manager Lori Depies said six proposals were actually received but the best and final offer came from a company called Aurora. "4 main criteria played a part in the decision making, including patient care," Depies said. "We went to the Princess Anne facility that Aurora owns and found that the patient care there was excellent," she continued.
Aurora Health Care Management LLC made an offer of $30 million and is proposing to retain the existing employees at the facility, and provide current pay and comparable benefits. A financial analysis shows that with the cash purchase price and other county revenues, the debt service on the facility will be paid off entirely.
The public hearing is taking place at Frederick Community College, on June 25th, beginning at 6 p.m.
Aurora currently owns and operates seven skilled nursing facilities in Maryland, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
