Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack participated this weekend in a DUI checkpoint, in conjunction with Checkpoint Strikeforce. The location was on the northbound side of Route 15.
As a result, more than 740 vehicles passed through the checkpoint with six vehicles pulled to the side of the road for further investigation. Authorities said one person was placed under arrest for DUI. Several others were charged with drug offenses, and a handgun was also seized, authorities said.
Troopers were working to identify drivers operating their vehicles under the influence, or while impaired by drugs, but more importantly, to educate the public on the dangers of drinking and driving.
