It occurred Tues. morning along Rt. 194 near Woodsboro.
An 18-year-old from Woodsboro was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning at Route 194 at Devilbiss Bridge Road near Woodsboro.
State Police say the operator of a Volkswagen Rabbit identified as Shania Ray McCleaf, 22, of Wodsboro was traveling northbound on Route 194 when she drove toward the center line. Damian Betts, who was traveling southbound in his vehicle, veered to the right to avoid colliding with McCleaf. But then he overcorrected and went left, striking a GMC truck.
The Betts was taken by ambulance to Frederick Memorial Hospital where he was stabilized, and then flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he died.
The occupants of the GMC truck, Robert Huyett Startzman, 47, and Robert Joseph Startzman, 27, both of Hagerstown, were taken to Meritus Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. They were treated and released.
Route 194 between Devilbiss Bridge Road and Glade Road was closed for several hours while troopers conducted an investigation.
