Officials are reporting trees down, roads closed and tens of thousands of power outages in Maryland and Delaware after a line of heavy thunderstorms moved through.
Carroll County Emergency Management director James Weed says large hail fell near the communities of Union Bridge and New Windsor, west of Westminster, Thursday morning. He says it piled up ``to the point that it looked like snow on the ground.''
Baltimore Gas and Electric reports about 8,300 customers without power, mostly in Carroll and Baltimore Counties.
Potomac Edison reports another 4,600 customers without power in Carroll, Frederick and Allegany Counties.
Delmarva Power is reporting 15,000 customers in the dark, mostly in New Castle County, Delaware.
The damage comes from a complex of storms that left tens of thousands without power in the midwest.
