1,735 more homes will be added to the Lake Linganore community. The Frederick County Commissioners voted Tuesday evening to approve a proposal by the developer, Oakdale Investments.
Commissioner Billy Shreve said a lot of community members in Lake Linganore supported the plan. "I had my staff to check and they said we had over 400 letters of support from people in Lake Linganore who supported the idea. I think we had a few from people who didn't support it, and I want to say that was less than five," continued Shreve. Those who were not in favor, he said, had concerns about safety issues. "For the most part the concern was about traffic, and the environment around their changing, which it would, but change happens," Shreve said.
The proposal approved Tuesday would return 950 acres to a zoning that allows for development. It also will allow for a new elementary school site and offer land for a new fire station.
The vote was 4-1 with Commissioner Dave Gray in opposition.
