House Minority Leader Nic Kipke and House Minority Whip Kathy Szeliga have appointed three Frederick legislators to key leadership positions in the House Republican Caucus. Delegate Michael Hough will serve Assistant Minority Leader, Delegate Kelly Schulz will serve as Ranking Member on the Economic Matters Committee, and Delegate Kathy Afzali will serve as a Deputy Minority Whip.
"I am deeply honored to be chosen to serve as Assistant Minority Leader", said Delegate Hough. "Our state has been heading in the wrong direction for far too long, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with my fellow Republicans on common sense solutions to turn back the failed policies of the Democrat monopoly."
"Maryland’s businesses have been throttled with high taxes and overregulation for the last several years", said Delegate Kelly Schulz. "In my new capacity as Ranking Member on the Economic Matters Committee, I look forward to working with my Republican colleagues to craft policies that open doors for businesses and jobs in Maryland."
"I am honored to be named Deputy Whip by my peers in the House Republican Caucus", said Delegate Kathy Afzali. "I welcome the opportunity to work with a great group of legislators in the Republican Caucus to find solutions to the challenges our state faces."
