It involved a car and a truck.
A Fortuna, California man was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore Wednesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Washington County. The call went out at around 3:25 PM.
State Police say Ronald Plotnick was the driver of a Hyundai passenger vehicle which was traveling south on I-81 near exit one in the Williamsport area when he lost control of the vehicle. The Hyundai struck the center median guardrail, and then went back on to southbound I-81, where it was hit by a Mack truck.
Plotnick was medivaced.
The driver the Mack truck, Mark Dunham, 37, of Martinsburg, WV, and a passenger, Brice Sparkman, 43, of Bunker Hill, WV, were taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center.
State Police temporarily closed southbound I-81 to allow the helicopter to land. One lane was closed for about two hours while troopers conducted an investigation. The highway was completely reopened by 6:11 PM.
Authorities say charges are pending.
State Police say the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the State Highway Administration both helped with traffic direction and lane closures.
