Crews finished reparing a leak Thurs. evening.
Water service was restored Thursday night to Preston and the surrounding areas.
Crews from The Frederick County Division of Utilities and Solid Waste Management, with assistance for JHG Contractors, repaired a large water leak found near Route 144.
The leak affected Preston, Pine Cliff, River Oaks and Spring Ridge communities.
Customers who turn on their water may notice some discoloration or turbidity, but it's harmless. They're asked to let the water in the faucet run for a few minutes before using it for cooking or laundry.
Officials with Utilities and Solid Waste Management say they noticed the leak Thursday morning. It resulted when a water valve blew off a fire hydrant.
