A Federick man led officers on a pursuit Sunday after he was pulled over in the area of East Patrick Street and Monocacy Blvd. Richard Mullen, of Leather Fern Way, was stopped because he had a malfunctioning light, authorities said. Shortly after a K9 team was to conduct a search of his vehicle, police said he drove off and led officers on a chase. Fortunately, it ended safely in the 500 block of South Market Street.
He was taken into custody, but during a search of his person, he kicked an officer in the face, police said.
He's charged with numerous offenses, including possession of heroin, marijuana, driving while impaired and second degree assault.
