Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men in the United States. In its Cancer Facts and Figures 2013, the American Cancer Society estimates that 4,880 men in Maryland will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 560 will die from it in 2013. "In the year 2009, which is the most current year for which cancer data is available, Maryland had 4,221 cases of prostate cancer, and of that, 135 cases were from Frederick County," said Beth Mowery, Program Administrator for cancer screening, Frederick County Health Department. "Additionally, in 2009, Maryland had 542 prostate cancer deaths and of that, 17 deaths were from Frederick County," she continued.
All over Maryland people are taking part in campaigns supporting men's health issues.
