It's to accommodate a relocation of a gas line.
If you normally travel along Interstate 70 in the Woodlawn area on a regular basis, here's a traffic note. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 24th at 9:00 AM, The State Highway Administration says the ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound Security Boulevard will be closed for approximately six weeks. This will allow BGE to relocate an underground gas line for the Mass Transit Administration's Red Line. Traffic is expected to be detoured.
Motorists traveling eastbound on I-70 to Security Boulevard and the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn will drive past the ramp to the end of I-70. Then, they will turn around at the Park and Ride, and head westbound on I-70, and turn right to reach northbound Security Boulevard
SHA says there will be delays and motorists traveling in the Woodlawn area are urged to give themselves plenty of time in reaching their destinations.
The project is expected to be completed in late October.
