A Frederick man entered an Alford plea Monday, in Washington County Circuit Court, to sexual abuse of a minor as a continuing course of conduct. Assistant States Attorney, Michelle Hansen, said 43 year old Gregory Eugene Hagan's sentence was delayed until January 21st. " His attorney, Mr. Ficker, initially filed a motion to ask that the court find him not criminally responsible for the acts for which he was charged, so we had to get over that hurdle first," said Hansen.
A medical doctor testified and said that Mr. Hagan had went into a trance when the sexual abuse was committed against several young girls. "And the state's expert testified that although he did disassociate at the time of the crime, he could discern right from wrong and he could have conformed his behavior to the law, so the judge found him criminally responsible for molesting three girls," said Hansen.
The sexual assaults took place between 2009 and 2012. The crime carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, under state law.
