The suspect was nabbed following a vehicle chase.
A Harpers Ferry, West Virginia man is charged in Frederick County with 4th-degree burglary. Edgar B. Browne IV, 40, was apprehended early Monday morning following a vehicle chase.
The Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a vacant home in the 4200 block of Basford Road shortly before midnight, Sunday for a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, they saw a Buick parked at that address. A deputy saw it speed away, and began a pursuit. A second deputy followed the vehicle to Routes 15 and 464., where he attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The chase continued on Route 464 before stopping at the dead end at Boss Arnold Road. Deputies located the vehicle which was abandoned.
A Sheriff's Office canine team responded and conducted a search. Browne was found lying in a wooded area not too far from his vehicle, and was taken into custody. He was taken to Central Booking at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with 4th-degree burglary.
The investigation revealed that two of the garage door window panes were broken, but access was not gained into the vacant house.
