The Brunswick Concert Series kicks off on Nov. 10 with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.
Have you ever wondered how you can help make schools better? The Brunswick community has the answer. The Brunswick Concert Series kicks off on Nov. 10 with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. Concert proceeds benefit the booster clubs at Brunswick High School. Back when the concert series was still in its infancy, organizers realized they'd need a nonprofit production organization. Darren Beachley, president of Brunswick Roundhouse Concert Productions, talks about the inspiration for its name.
"I thought, 'Let's find something that is Brunswick centric,'" Beachley recalls. "And the roundhouse came up, so we just said, 'We'll make it Brunswick Roundhouse Productions.'"
Beachley also pointed out that the Brunswick roundhouse has a special place in the town's history.
"The roundhouse in Brunswick was one of the things that had been lost," he said. "You know, we don't have a roundhouse in Brunswick anymore, and it used to be the crowning jewel of the railroad yard."
The first concert will be held Nov. 10 at 3 p.m.; doors open at 2 p.m. tickets are $20.
