Peter Hannaford, a long-time aide to former President Ronald Reagan, will speak about his book, "Presidential Retreats," on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Frederick Visitor Center.
The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership and the Tourism Council of Frederick County will host Peter Hannaford, a long-time aide to former President Ronald Reagan, Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Frederick Visitor Center.
Hannaford will speak about his latest book, "Presidential Retreats: Where the Presidents Went and Why They Went There."
One chapter is about Camp David and covers, "Everything, obviously, from major peace accords, and events hosting diplomats from around the world and other leaders around the world," said Shuan Butcher, Director of Communications for the Partnership.
Hannaford not only knows about presidential retreats, but also has first-hand knowledge of what it's like to work in politics. He's worked as a consultant, public relations professional, and assistant to Ronald Reagan when he was Governor of California. Hannaford even worked on other presidential campaigns.
"He was involved in election campaigns in 1976 as well as 1980. In fact, Reagan's offices were actually located within Hannaford's firm's offices for the campaign," Butcher recalls learning from a conversation he had with Hannaford.
Hannaford's presentation on Thursday begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
