The Frederick Board of County Commissioners today announced the departure of Director Eric Soter from the Community Development Division, effective December 14, 2013.
Board President Blaine Young commented, "We would like to express our appreciation to Eric for his outstanding service to the citizens of Frederick County. We thank him for his work with the Planning Commission, management of the Community Development Division that we created to streamline citizen and business community operations, oversight of revisions to the Countywide Comprehensive Plan, and implementation of the board’s ‘business friendly’ process to reduce fees and make changes to rules and regulations, among many other accomplishments. We wish him the best in his future career endeavors."
Mr. Soter was appointed Community Development Division director in February 2011 and was authorized to reorganize the division management structure by consolidating the Planning Division, Economic Development Division (now called the Business Development and Retention Department), Permitting and Development Review Division and the Office of Environmental Sustainability to provide more accessible services to the citizens and business community in Frederick County.
Previously, Mr. Soter served as director of the Frederick County Planning Division since October 2007. He supervised programmatic functions, including budget preparation and strategic planning initiatives. Mr. Soter also served as director of the Department of Planning and Zoning prior to his appointment as division director.
The board further announced that Gary Hessong, currently director of the Permits & Inspections Department, will serve as acting director of the Community Development Division with a salary of $150,560.
