Maryland State Police in Frederick are looking for the person responsible for spray painting racial slurs on the roadway.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a trooper spotted the phrase 'GO BACK 2 AFRICA' painted on Rt. 180 westbound by Rt. 79 in Petersville.

Police believe the phrase was originally painted in red paint and has faded, now appearing pink. Neighbors say the phrase has been on the road for about week.
