In one case, a potential victim receives a call, informing them that they have won a large amount of money, but they must send in $1,000 to get their winnings. The second scam involves a family receiving a call that a family member has been kidnapped, and the victims are told to come up with $3,000 for their family member's release. Another instance involves a family receiving a call that a relative is incarcerated in a foreign jail, and the family must provide $3,000 in order to get that person released.
