Suspects got away with cash.
Frederick Police are investigating the armed robbery of a restaurant late Saturday night.
Authorities say a man with a handgun entered the Pizza Blitz in the 200 block of Yellow Springs Pike at around 11:30. He demanded money, and held the employees at gunpoint while he forced another employee to open the cash register. He removed an undetermined amount of money. An accomplice was waiting outside, and both fled the scene on foot.
A canvass by officers, including the State Police Helicopter, turned up nothing. The wind and snow hampered efforts in locating the suspects.
Witnesses told police the gunman was wearing dark pants, a gray hoodie, ski mask and gloves. The accomplice was wearing blue jeans. One of the suspects was white and the other was black. Both have slender builds, about 5'11" to 6' tall.
The Frederick Police Crime Scene Unit and the Criminal Investigation Division arrived on the scene to collect evidence and do a follow-up.
