The incident occurred on Feb. 16th.
Two Frederick men are charged with theft from a motor vehicle earlier this month. Seth Alexander Nikirk, 20, and Chadwick Daniel Handley, 20, are each charged with theft under $1,000, being a rogue and a vagabond, tampering with motor vehicles and conspiracy to commit these offenses.
Police says officers were doing a surveillance of the Cannon Bluff neighborhood in the early morning hours of February 16th when they noticed two individuals identified as Nikirk and Handley acting suspiciously. After questioning, they were released. Later that day, a resident reported that several items were stolen from his vehicle. A follow up investigation identified Nikirk and Handley as the two suspects.
Frederick Police remind citizens to take precautions when it comes valuables inside their vehicles. That includes keeping your vehicle locked at all times; making sure windows are rolled up, and the sunroof is closed; remove all valuables from your vehicle when you leave; park in well lit areas; install an alarm; and, last but not least, report any suspicious activity immediately to local police.
