A young driver was killed in Carroll County early Monday morning in a single vehicle accident.

Deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office responded to Poole Road south of Sykesville Road just after 1:00 AM and found a 16-year-old girl from Westminster dead at the scene.

Investigators say the girl lost control of her Toyota Corolla in the heavy rain and ran off the roadway and hit a tree.  

Weather and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.

Police are asking anyone that may have witnessed the accident to call.
