Frederick Police, FBI Foil Bank Robbery

Serial bank robber arrested.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police were able to foil a bank robbery on Friday, and take a serial bank robber into custody.

Authorities say on Friday morning at around 6:30, they received information that an individual identified as Gary Barnett was headed to the area to rob a bank. Working with the FBI and other federal agencies, Frederick Police placed themselves at observation points in and around several banks which were possible targets in the Frederick area.

At around 9:16 AM, law enforcement officers observing a bank on West Patrick Street saw Barnett. He was taken into custody without incident.

During an interview, Barnett told police that he was intending to rob a bank that day. He also admitted to several bank robberies in Maryland, including the PNC Bank on West Patrick Street on March 16th, 2018.

Frederick Police say they are thanking the FBI and other federal agencies for their assistance in apprehending Barnett.
