Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Continues Investigating Two Motorcycle Crashes

One biker has life threatening injuries.                                                                    

 

Wolfsville, Md (KM) The investigation continue into two motorcycle crashes Tuesday afternoon in near Wolfsville.

Todd Wivell, the Public Information Officer for the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, says deputies responded to the 12900 block of Stottlemyer Road at around 4:30. They learned that a motorcyclist identified as Stephen Thomas Wolfrey, 55, of Annapolis, was traveling with three other bikers southbound along that roadway. . One motorcyclist rear-ended another. That biker who was hit in the rear was able to maintain control, but Wolfrey lost control of his bike and ended up in the middle of the road.

“Frederick County Department of Fire and Rescue Services responded from multiple towns and started to render first aid,” says  Wivell.

While they were doing that, another motorcyclist identified as Wyatt Walker Lewis, 19, of Smithsburg, was traveling northbound on Stottlemyer Road, and hit the rear of a  truck/. “He was ejected. His motorcycle slid. It hit the first motorcyclist who was injured. It hit three DFRS personnel and two bystanders who were there helping,” says Wivell.

Wolfrey was taken to Johns Hopkins with life-threatening injuries. Lewis sustained serious injuries and was transported to Shock Trauma.

“The first EMS member that was hurt was transported to Shock Trauma. He remains there and is in stable condition. The second DFRS member was transported by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center, and was released and is home recovering. The third DFRS member refused treatment and is home recovering. The two bystanders also refused treatment on the scene,” Wivell says.

The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit Reconstruction Team responded to the scene, and continued its investigation late into the evening.
